On the day

Thank you for entering the first race of Yateley 10K Series 2026. As many of you know, we are a non-profit-making organisation which organises races for runners. We are very proud that all of the money made from these races gets put back into local good causes and projects in our community.

We hope you enjoy the races as much as we love to put them on.

Here are a few notes to help to ensure you are prepared for the races.

Alison and Jenny
Joint Race Directors

Day of the race

When you arrive at the race please park in one of the car parks and then follow the volunteers to get to the field. Please note there is no car parking available for runners at Sean Devereux Park.

Briefing notes will be sent to all entrants a week before each race and copies published here. Please take time to read these briefing notes so you are prepared for what to expect.

Entering the race

Online entries close at midday a week before each race.

There are a few race entries left so if you know of anyone who would like to enter the races please get them to register on our website. Online entries close at midday on Tuesday 2nd June. If there any any places left, registration will be available in-person on the day. Please visit the information desk inside YUFC clubhouse.

Number exchange

There is no number exchange this year as we have not sold out. If this changes, we will advertise on our social media sites.

Numbers

Your numbers will be sent out to you at the address that you provided. If you have not received your number please visit our information desk at the event, inside the YUFC clubhouse.

Warming up

You are welcome to warm up on the roads around the fields by the Yateley FC clubhouse. Tthese are open roads until the races starts so please be careful.

Baggage

Baggage can be left at Yateley Cricket Club with directions from the start area. Please use the baggage label attached to your race number.

Toilets

Toilets will be placed at the car park at the YUFC clubhouse. You are also welcome to use the toilets in both the cricket club and the football club. The cricket club toilets tend to be quieter.

Water

With our commitment to sustainability, we have no plastic bottles this year of water. Please bring with you a filled bottle. Label your bottle and place it on the table with your number range on it. If your bottle is not easily recognisable, please label it with your number using the labels and pens provided. At the end of the race collect your bottle. There will be water available for you to refill your own bottle.

Start times

The start time of the main race is 7.30pm. There will be finish time markers to ensure that people of the same pace start together and to improve the flow round the course.

The junior run starts at 7.35pm. There are two pens for this (under 11 and over 11). This just helps the smaller children not to get crushed.

Timing

The timing is chip to chip timing so please DO NOT rush across the start line. Prizes are also chip to chip.

Water

With our commitment to sustainability, we will not be providing plastic bottles of water.

Please bring with you a filled bottle. Label your bottle and place it on the table near the finish.  Paper cups of water will be available in Longwater Road (between 5k-6k) and at the finish.

During the race

The race takes place on open and closed roads. Please respect the traffic and each others space at all times. Overtaking should be kept to a minimum. The roads are marshalled by the Sandhurst Joggers and Lions. Please respect their space at all times.

Cutoff times

There is a 40 minute cut off time for runners to get to 5km. If you do not get to 5km by 40 minutes then the sweep bikes will move past you and onto the next runners who has made the cut off. You can still continue on the route but the roads will be opened and we will begin to pack up the finish (due to light). I hope you understand this. We are only given road closure orders for a specific window of time and so we need to have the roads back open to ensure that we meet these times limits.

First aid

There will be first aid around the course and at the finish line. Please ask a marshal if you need any assistance.

At the finish

Once you cross the finish line please pick up your medal and then move through the finish funnel to collect your water bottle.

Prize giving

The prize giving will happen as soon after the end of the race as possible. If you are unable to stay for the prize giving we will send your prize to the address on your registration.

Spot prizes

Spot prizes will be handed out at the finish to selected finishers.

First aid

There will be first aid around the course and at the finish line. Please ask a marshal if you need any assistance.

Spectators

We welcome spectators to come and support the runners and volunteers in the race village.

Headphones

We encourage runners to run without headphones and enjoy the atmosphere. However, we also acknowledge that some people do like to run with music and so bone conductor headphones (as approved by UK athletics) are allowed.

See you at the start line!
